Oh My Stars! start

Hi!
It took me a few weeks, but I jumped on the Oh My Stars Bandwagon with thought and found blog!

I had 18 bright fat quarters I thought would be great for the 15 different stars in the project!
I have 3 sets of stars done so far!  There is a 12.5 inch star, 2 x 8.5 inch stars and 5 x 4.5 inch stars!
What do you think?

This is the 1st set of stars.  I had to change my brain around as she uses some different techniques to cut, sew and teach!  It took me 5 tries to figure out how the cutting instructions worked into the finished star, but once you get it, it goes very quickly!

These are the 2nd set, these are Pinwheel Stars!  It took me a bit of unsewing to get the flying geese points to line up, but I think they are cut, you can see the colours better if you click on the picture.
These are 9 patch stars (I think that is their name).  The 9 patches took me a while, especially the little stars.

It is also the start of a new month, February!  So far, I've used 6 fat quarters and 1 yard of fabric for these stars from my stash!  I thought I had more of the background in my stash, but didn't.  I had to my 3 metres, but got them on sale!  thats ok, right!
mellissa from Happy Quilting is having a Blog Hop for Valentine's Day gift items to sew!  Her link is in my Blog List on the left side, today she asked what is your favorite love song in your comment to win some great prizes!
Mine is Time in a Bottle by Jim Croce, yes from 1975ish.  Here is a LINK to the You tube video.
We wanted to have this song at our wedding, but my MIL thought it had to do with liquor, so she wouldn't let us.  Have a listen, it'll make your day!
Enjoy your day!
Take care, Leslie

  4. Great stars! I love Jim Croce - and that is a wonderful love song. I put Leader of the Pack as my favourite love song. I don't know if it really is but it is the first record I ever bought - when I was 10 or 11. It was a 45...
